Hannah with nephew Gerhard.
Gerhard was the youngest son of Hannah's sister Gjertrud, and his mother
died a few months after he was born in 1906. He emigrated to the USA
with his aunt Hannah and her husband in 1909, who became his
foster parents. Gerhard served in the US Navy in 1942 and
participated in the invation of North Africa the same year. He died
in 1960. |
